BUFFALOED!

Canadian-bred BUFFALO MAN is off all the trails - Kentucky Derby, Queen's Plate, after emerging from his 5 furlong workout yesterday with an ankle injury.

The El Prado - Perfect Six, by Saratoga Six colt, trained by Cam Gambolati, had won two stakes this season - his latest was a win in the Ocala Championship Stakes earlier this month.
Peachtree Stables' TWILIGHT METEOR is left as the top Plate hopeful - to see the current Top 10, check out the Queen's Plate Microsite (see link to right and note below)

(Top right) A VALENTINE SWEETIE: This perky little miss was foaled Feb. 14 at Gail Woods' Woodlands Farm, Hillsburgh and she is from the second crop of Grade 1 winner and champion miler CANDY RIDE (Ride the Rails) from the Affirmed mare AFFIRMED ROYALTY (Battonier), whose half-sister, Batroyale, won the Grade 2 Del Mar Debutante in 1995.

SAVED BY THE....HERPES??

SHAKE YOU DOWN, the millionaire gelding who was entered for $10,000 claiming at Charles Down yesterday, did not race as the card was cancelled, possibly by weather but perhaps because of the threat of an Equine Herpes outbreak that has hit Virginia.

QUEEN'S PLATE 'MICRO-SITE'!

Want to know the latest news on the Queen's Plate contenders, enter the ever-popular Queen's Plate Fantasy Challenge and tab the top 10 prospects? WOODBINE ENTERNTAINMENT's Plate micro-site is ready to launch and THOROUGHBLOG was asked to provide the top 10 leading Plate contenders (as of Feb. 26). This list will change regularly as the Plate (to be run this year on June 24) nears. THOROUGHBLOG has provided a link on my Links sidebar so you can access the Plate micro-site quickly.

COMMENTS, WE GET COMMENTS

Thanks to those knowledgable ( and very kind) folks who sent in comments on my recent posts regarding media coverage etc. Thanks also to all the e-mails I have been getting.

THOROUGHBLOG encourages everyone to write in to discuss racing issues, big races or their horses. Stay tuned, THOROUGHBLOG is re-vamping its look (thanks to my genius Brother - have you downloaded his oh-so cool PHOTOCAFE Program off my links list yet??) and your photos will soon be included!

Also had some chuckles this morning from an "anonymous" writer who sent in a bunch of comments for several older posts (Posts about Frank Stronach's energy drink, Edenwold etc.) in the wee hours of this morning!
