TOP CANADIAN-BRED RACES TODAY
BUFFALO MAN in OCALA with ‘SKIPPY’
The festival of racing in Ocala starts at 1:30 today and the featured race is the $100,000 Champion Stakes featuring Canadian-bred, and Thoroughblog’s number 1 horse on the hot Canadian-bred list, BUFFALO MAN (El Prado). His competition includes Canadian graded stakes winner SKIP CODE.
A local paper previews the races so check it out…

SHILLELAGH BACK ON TRACK
Champion 3-year-old colt in Canada SHILLELAGH SLEW opened his lungs a bit with his first prep of the year at Palm Meadows. The son of Chief Seattle worked an easy 3 furlongs in :38 2/5, his first workout since undergoing ankle surgery last fall.
It is expected that every one of last year’s champion runners in Canada will be racing in 2007.
EDENWOLD 5TH
He runs his races a weird way now but EDENWOLD was a reasonable 5th behind star colt LAWYER RON in an allowance race at Gulfstream yesterday. The colt broke sharply but then dropped way back before closing mildly. Maybe the Plate winner needs a set of blinkers to get him more motivated?
STRONACH, CLARK-ROGERS retire racehorses
ESPN.com’s BILL FINLEY writes a little story on the retirement program set up by Frank and Freida Stronach at their farm in Ontario. Former jockey Stacie Clark-Rogers re-trains the horses and talks about how many have been placed.
