BEYER FIRE

A recap of some of the stuff from yesterday:
MARYFIELD earned a 98 Beyer Figure for her win in the Grade 2 Distaff Breeders' Cup at Aqueduct while CANDY BOX's number would be about a 92.
SEALY HILL's Bourbonette win was an 87 Beyer Figure.
Canadian-bred THREE IN THE BAG won for $25,000 claiming at AQU yesterday with a 93 Beyer, his second consecutive win. The Silver Deputy gelding was bred by Kinghaven Farms.
HARD SPUN'S 101 Beyer in the Lane's End meant a 79 for TWILIGHT METEOR, who bounced big-time off his season return win.
The Meteor is the early favourite for the Queen's Plate.

PIE IN THE SKY

The Rosehill Guineas (Group 1-Aus) was won yesterday by HE'S NO PIE EATER, who was mentioned in an earlier post from our friend Bob Costigan. He's no Pie Eater is out of LADIES' DAY, by ASCOT KNIGHT.

THANKS TO

A reader who sent the links for the photos from Turfway Park yesterday and everyone's comments about SHAKE YOU DOWN, the popular and rich gelding who has been retired to the Marion County Correctional Facility in Ocala Florida.
Also, THOROUGHBLOG received a nice letter from SOUTHGATE FARMS in Georgia. The owners of Southgate, Bill Johnson and his wife, own and breed sport horses but recently claimed ADRIATIC SEA (a half sister to Plate hopeful Leonnatus Anteas) and have bred her to Tenpins (by Smart Strike). Good luck to the Johnsons!

Re Ascot Knight, his son First Knight, an Australian-bred 7-year-old gelding racing in Hong Kong, is better than ever when registering his third victory this season over there. See below.
