DERBY DUSTINGS

Whew, what a busy day yesterday just trying to keep up with the happenings - Canadian-breds kickin butt, some not so much, Kentucky Derby, Queen's Plate hopefuls, Woodbine Oaks coming up and Rare Friends moving on to a new life (read all about this stuff in yesterday's 2-part posting).
Anyway, yes, the HOT CANADIAN-BRED LIST is updating - patience peeps! I am still trying to figure out who should be where on the list...

Brief notes for this morninng..

Champion older horse in Canada from last year, TRUE METROPOLITAN started off his 2007 season with a bang just like so many of our champions this year. The 5-year-old gelding won the George Royal Stakes yesterday afternoon at Hastings by 3 1/2 lengths and ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16 2/5 after a wide trip.
The gelding is expected to head east now for an upcoming, older horse stakes engagement - perhaps the Eclipse on May 21.

BEYER FIGURES from yesterday - JIGGS COZ - 94, moves him on the Plate list behind Twilight Meteor (maybe Todd Pletcher will have better luck at the Plate than he did at the Derby). SKY CONQUEROR matched his lifetime best when putting up a 105.

Today's FURY STAKES needs to mentioned even if there were only 4 horses entered from the original nomination list and one was supplemented.
The red-hot Bill Sorokolit, Sr. and Jr. family and trainer Darwin Banach have heavily favoured PALACE PIER in the race but watch out for the even hotter Sid Attard barn, whose BANKER'S STREET will beon the lead and tough to catch.

Queen's Plate hopefuls MOUNTAIN WOLF and MARCHFIELD have a very important maiden race today (race 4) that will decide their Plate journey destiny.
