THE BIG PICTURE
Things in life sure get put into perspective after events like what happened in Virginia yesterday.
THOROUGHBLOG will be active this afternoon with some KEENELAND 2YO SALE NEWS and a preview of FRIDAY'S card at Woodbine.
TUESDAY MORNING NOTES
ARRAVALE, Canada’s Horse of the Year for 2006, worked 4 furlongs at Woodbine yesterday morning, 49 3/5, as she gets ready for what should be a well planned, methodical campaign that could wind up at Monmouth Park for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf…
Queen’s Plate eligible IT’S A DANZIG (a Danzig colt bred by Gus Schickedanz) is still working away at Keeneland. He raced twice as a 2yo but has yet to start in 2007..SHILLELAGH SLEW, headed for the Vigil Stakes and perhaps a cool showdown with speedster STRADIVINSKY, worked 5 furlongs in 1:01 1/5…
The Keeneland 2YO SALE gets underway at 1:30 today after the second breeze show took place yesterday…The Multiple Group 1 winner HE’S NO PIE EATER, who has been discussed on THOROUGHBLOG because he is out of an ASCOT KNIGHT mare, was euthanized yesterday after a freak accident in which he broke his shoulder going into a gallop. The colt was based in Australia…The interests of COLLIER HILL, the 9-year-old who was a late scratch from the Dubai Duty Free on World Cup day say the old timer is hopefully going to be back in training soon and they hope to make an attempt for a repeat in the CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL at Woodbine in the fall.
SIGN OF THE TIMES
Jeff Scott of the SARATOGIAN writes about being in Las Vegas for the Blue Grass Stakes and the changing times that will see lightly raced and inexperienced CURLIN as the probable favourite on Derby day…
